Introducing Oakland County Retail! (#1)

Welcome to Oakland County Retail, a blog all about retail in Metro Detroit!


A bit about me:

Although I've been interested in retail as long as I can remember, it wasn't until earlier this year that I really got into the retail community, when I started my retail Flickr account, dtwretail, at the encouragement of Simpsonfan311 (writer of Retail on the Thames). I was inspired to start my own blog after seeing the work of some of my fellow retail enthusiasts, namely Columbia Closings, Simpsonfan311, Retail Retell (The Mid-South Retail Blog), Albertsons Florida Blog, Shoppes of Battery Mill, and, of course, fellow Metro Detroiter Matt Burb (Southeast Michigan Retail: Motor City Retail History).

This blog will focus mainly on retail in the Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Lansing metro areas, but will also include certain finds from elsewhere in Michigan and across the country. I'll occasionally stray from retail, venturing into other topics like hotels, transportation, and architecture.
